FAQ
COURSES AND CERTIFICATES
Most courses are valid for 3 years, temporary certificates for 3 months.
Replacement certificates for Enform, Global training, CICT, Attitude People Inc must be done through those companies. We can replace other certificates.
If a certificate is misspelled keep it as we can usually send them back to get replacements
We can recertify Red Cross courses every 3 years as long as the participant has a valid First Aid certificate that is not expired.
BC Endorsements for Red Cross are done here. We need to make sure student has taken their Red Cross course with us. We give the endorsement package and fill out certificate and invoice. Charge for BC endorsement is $35.00.
BC Endorsement for St. Johns certificates must be done at St. Johns.
Safety Buzz Campus does a blended first aid where the individual does online training and then a day of classroom skills.
RED CROSS
Participants need to be 11 to do the babysitting course
Home alone is a component of the babysitters courseBabysitter course is about 6 hours.
Participants need a bagged lunch. They can call their caregivers when course is almost done to give the pick up time.
DRIVER TRAINING COURSES
ODA is Oilfield Drivers Awareness. It used to be called GODI. This course is used to get the Oilfield Exemption permits. We would like to get group bookings for this – if it is not on the schedule, take their name and tell them we will call when we have a course.
We can also offer Hours of Service, Fatigue Management and Cargo Securement which may also be required for the exemption permit. Take names of people who would like this.
The Defensive Driving course we have gives a 3 demerit reduction. This course is very good for a team builder and about improving company image through people driving company vehicles
OSSA and ESC
OSSA stands for Oilsands Safety Association. These courses are required for people working around Fort McMurray in the Oilsands but may also required by other companies such as Cenovus
We offer OSSA Fall Protection, OSSA Elevated Work Platform and OSSA Confined Space
INVOICING
We can set up new customers accounts by sending a credit application and then adding in the customer
Cenovus has 2 divisions. People who work in this area are Cenovus in. People working North at either Foster Creek or Christina Lake are FCCL
We have a list of people who require PO#’s or Cost Codes. Always make sure we add them if needed.
We can work with companies to apply for the Canada Alberta Job Grant that could get them eligible to have 2/3 of training costs covered. This grant will not work for business owners or their immediate families
Confined Space and Fall Protection participants can bring their own harnesses and coveralls if they would like.
If people need fit or audiometric test or drug testing we refer them to Lana at Absolute Occupational Health Services Inc, 403-581-9298
Our Safety Buzz in house courses meet Alberta Occupational Health and Safety standards and may also include some industry standards and fall protections uses some CSA standards.
EQUIPMENT COURSES
Participants need full PPE for Equipment training
Slang terms for equipment:
Zoom-Boom = Telehandler
Bobcat = Skid SteerGenie Lift or JLG = EWP (Elevated Work Platform)/Telescoping Lift/Scissor Lift/Articulating Boom
With ATV and UTV training participants need to bring their own machine that is registered and insured
We have 1 ATV we can supply for a user fee of $150
We can get a UTV from John Deere at a user fee of $200 or $250 if we need to pick up and drop off
